
Can you believe it’s February already! Looking at your month end results – are you where you want to be? If not, don’t start panicking as for many businesses the first few weeks of the year can tend to be slightly slower.
The important thing is that you have your 90 day plan in place so you know what you’re aiming for and what you need to do in February and March to make up for the slower start in January.

1. BREAK FREE FROM PROCRASTINATION
Next time you find yourself procrastinating use what Mel Robbins calls The 5 Second Rule – the decision of courage. It is based on the fact that it only takes 5 Seconds for your self doubt to kick in and your mind to start working against you. How often do you find yourself thinking about things you want to do but then never end up doing them? Skipping the gym, not speaking up in meetings, not saying YES to opportunities because of self doubt, worrying and over thinking or feeling paralysed and not able to do anything.
The 5 Second Rule will help you find the courage to make the decision to act NOW. The moment you know you should do something, start counting backwards from 5 and make sure you physically move before you get to 0. Otherwise, there’s every chance your mind will kill the idea. Start creating new positive habits today – you know what you need to do to achieve your goals and the only way you’ll achieve them is by having the courage to try – to take action NOW. 2. BE AUTHENTIC, NO MATTER WHAT
Actions speak louder than words. It’s not enough to just have a purpose that’s a pretty set of words you share with your team and clients. If you want to be a leader who inspires, you need to walk the talk of your purpose, your WHY. It needs to start from the inside out. Simon Sinek says when thinking about your WHY ask yourself these questions, who are you, what’s your purpose, cause or beliefs? WHY does your company exist? WHY do you get out of bed every morning? And WHY should anyone care? To be an inspired company, an inspired leader, you need to think and communicate from the inside out.
Once you have your WHY, you then need to take action leading by your values (check out January’s tips on values here) and making decisions based on them as well. It’s the discipline to never veer from your WHY, to hold yourself and your team accountable to how you do things that’s the hardest part. To be consistent in all that you say and do, to be authentic, no matter what. When a business demonstrates an authentic purpose, people feel a connection to your products or services. People don’t buy what you do, they buy WHY you do it.
3. MAKE SELF LOVE A PRIORITY
For many of us we could all use some help in the self love department and seeing that February is the month of love, I thought it was only appropriate that this month’s wellbeing tip be all about self love! Our own level of self love can be detrimental to our success in relationships, career, health and overall wellbeing. Here are 3 ways you can get started on your journey to self love:
- Do mindful practices – be present and in the moment. When you’re mindful you tune into your own thoughts, emotions and needs and listen to what it is you really need in that moment.
- Nourish your body – fuel your body with healthy foods that give you energy. When you eat/drink something check in with yourself and see how you feel. Do you feel energised or sluggish? Move your body each day – it may be a walk, run, gym class, yoga, pilates, swimming, dancing. Again check in and listen to what your body needs and feels like doing that day.
- Do things that feeds your soul – find time in your day to do something that makes you happy. It may be as simple as enjoying a cup of tea on the couch, reading a book, listening to music, catching up with friends and family, yoga, going for coffee, having a glass of your favourite wine, dancing – whatever makes you smile!
